WHAT IS AN EEG?
An EEG (Electroencephalograph) is a recording of the electrical activity of the brain waves. It can determine changes in brain activity that might be useful in diagnosing brain disorders, especially epilepsy or other seizure disorders.
Patients are frequently referred with symptoms such as: headaches, seizures, blackouts, collapse, dizzy spells, absences.
Dr Balaji Kalband is a Neurologist with over twelve years of experience in clinical neurology and neurophysiology.
He trained under the aegis of Melbourne University during his Fellowship in epilepsy from Australia’s first and largest centre for Epilepsy at the prestigious Austin Hospital, with multiple publications in the field of epilepsy, EEG and neurophysiology.
Besides stroke and general neurology, his special interests and expertise include:
Epilepsy and seizure disorders including clinical diagnosis, EEG and long-term pharmacotherapy.
Headache disorders with emphasis on prevention of migraine, Botox therapy for migraine and related disorders.
Dasha Nepustilova is a neurophysiology technologist with over 20 years’ experience at Launceston General Hospital and North West Regional Hospital Burnie and working in private practice with Dr S. Siejka for over 15 years.
